Soundiverse
The ability to effectively process sounds is crucial for learning and communication, particularly for children endeavouring to learn in noisy classrooms. For children with a diagnosed spatial processing disorder or a diagnosed deficit listening in noise, this can be a significant challenge. Soundiverse is a digital game that addresses these challenges through an innovative, engaging, and scientifically grounded approach. The game is in a beta stage of development with further research underway and modifications likely.
Soundiverse is a serious game filled with colourful visuals, engaging soundscapes, and playful mechanics. Difficulty levels are adaptive to suit each child's unique needs. By playing for approximately 12 minutes a day for 10 weeks, children can enhance their listening skills, slowly encouraging their brains to adapt to more difficult listening scenarios. The fun and interactivity of the game ensures compliance.
Soundiverse is a newly developed version of an auditory training game by Dr Sharon Cameron and Professor Harvey Dillon from Macquarie University which utilises auditory processing exercises to strengthen neural pathways and improve the ability to hear in noise.
