Tips for testing young children (4β6 years)
Practical advice for getting a reliable result when screening young children.
Testing young children requires extra patience. The Tip sheet, including the following points, will help achieve the most reliable results:
- Conduct testing earlier in the day when children are well rested and best able to concentrate.
- Ideally the child has eaten and been to the bathroom before testing.
- Avoid distractions: switch off the TV and remove toys from the testing area.
- Always complete the Trial Run activities.
- Explain the sounds will get quieter and quieter and sometimes they wonβt hear anything and this is OK. Encourage them to wait until they hear the sound before they tap the screen again.
