Tips for testing middle & high school students

Considerations when using the Sound Scouts Triple Factor Hearing Screener with older students.

Middle & high school students are generally able to follow the test instructions independently, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Explain it’s a short game designed to assess their hearing and there will be times when the levels are very low as the test works out the quietest sounds they can hear.
  • Remind students to ONLY tap when they hear a sound β€” random tapping will result in an Invalid result.
  • Test in a quiet room away from classroom noise.
  • Utilize the Trial Run activities if students are unfamiliar with technology or have learning or behavioural issues.
