Triple Factor Hearing Screener Supervisor Set-Up Activity Explained
The Triple Factor Hearing Screener Supervisor Set-Up Activity helps to calibrate, or set the levels, for the test, to accommodate different headphones and acoustic environments.
Testing in a quiet environment, using good quality adult headphones, the Supervisor must listen carefully and complete the activity to the best of their listening ability. If interrupted the activity should be redone. If the Supervisor is unable to complete the activity we recommend asking another adult with good hearing to complete the task. Standardised headphone options are available if test Supervisors have a hearing loss.
When screening large cohorts the Supervisor Set-Up is completed once per day; we recommend redoing if the background noise levels change during the day.
How to re-use the Set-Up
From version 6.1.2 onwards, Sound Scouts has a feature which allows you to skip the adult calibration if you do multiple sessions in a row without closing the app.
This feature will automatically activate on the second playthrough of the game (provided the App remains open). It will simply ask you if you wish to reuse the previous adult data. This screen/option appears after the adult headphone check within the setup stage for a new test.
Keep in mind the background noise levels should remain the same. If they change, the adult should redo the supervisor activity.
